Most people find it quite unfair to have their own identity ripped away from them through the simplest thing as school. In the article, Palestinian students and their families find themselves being taught Israeli culture instead of their own. The families knowing enrolled their children into a new Israeli program hoping this would provide better success in the future. The Palestinian families now feel as if the Israelis are teaching the students what they believe rather than what the Palestinians believe.
In the article, it is clear to see how the Palestinians feel taken advantage of for wanting to enroll their children in a great opportunity for professional success. The whole purpose in the enrollment is so that the students will be able to attend Israeli University. In the Israeli University, the students are expected to know Hebrew and various other Israeli things. This is why it is called ISRAELI University not PALESTINIAN University. The Palestinians are concerned and doubt the enrollment because the university is teaching the Torah and Hebrew lessons. I believe that if the Palestinians do not like how the Israelis prepare the students for the university then they should most definitely have the student drop out. The reason why they are being taught these things is because that is what is expected in the Israeli University so if the Palestinians do not want that then the student wont have the "better opportunity" they hoped for.
The article pertains to the culture of the country because it is what they are teaching in the school (Torah, Hebrew lessons). They are teaching and preparing what will be in the Israeli University. It is important to the country's culture that they teach these things because it is what keeps the origin of the country in tact and what keeps its history alive in present day.
